Matamata Districts Book Club

We have over 100 contributing members New Zealand wide and more than 40,000 books on available to buy and take away. 

We believe that it is critical to save books for the future use of citizens and also visitors to New Zealand. The Book Club has a clean green recycling, no dumping and book waste pulping policy. We accept applications from poor families, disadvantaged elderly and disabled citizens and will arrange do all we can to try and deliver at no charge to those disadvantaged people. Applications for books to poorly funded adult reading groups and prisons are also welcome. 

There is substantial free parking, a peaceful grassed area to relax on and swings for children to play on. There is a large childrens section and we encourage the parents of children to allow their children to experience the joy of recycling the books they have out grown, by trading their unwanted books in and upgrading their book collection to a higher reading level at the book club. 

We accept good quality trade ins from members and non members from all works of life. We have a sell on behalf section for your rare or near brand new books and the club does not charge to sell those books for you. 

We are now open to the from 12pm until 5pm Friday, Saturday and Sunday to all friends of the book club and members. 

All books are available to be purchased and quality book trade in's are welcomed to contribute towards upgrading your reading requirements for other good quality books. 

Everyone is welcome and even friendly hobbits that love to read feel at home here. There are books to suit everyone's reading requirements

Matamata Market

The Matamata Country Markets are held on the Second Saturday of Every Month.

Free Public Entry. 

Stall Holders: $15.00 per stall per month.
